NATIONAL – Black celebs boycott Oscars, go to Flint Michigan; Sharpton leads protest outside Oscars

Many black celebrities had planned on attending the Oscars for the 88th Academy Awards. Creed” director Ryan Coogler, Ava DuVernay, Janelle Monae and other Hollywood celebrities had big plans for Oscar night.  However, many celebrities will be 2,300 miles away in Flint, Michigan, participating in a benefit for residents affected by the town’s lead contaminated water crisis. Activist Al Sharpton, 61, lead a protest in the streets of Los Angeles. Sharpton protested the exclusion of minorities from Oscar nominations for the second year in a row.
