Meningitis outbreak claims eight lives

Reports so far show that one hundred and five people across Tennessee, Michigan, Virginia, Indiana, Maryland, Florida, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Ohio have been infected by meningitis, eight of which have died. The disease is fungal and actually not contagious. It is being attributed to infected steroid injections. The steroids have been traced back to the New England Compunding Center’s facility in Framingham, Massachusetts. All products made at this facility have been voluntarily recalled. Authorities are attempting to locate those who have recieved the injection so far and notify them of the risk of infection. In Ohio, despite only one recorded infection so far, police have been enlisted to help attempt to locate potential victims and determine if they’ve been infected. The Center for Disease Control has located all the clinics that recieved a portion of the 17, 676 vials that were shipped across 23 states and is making every effort to notify them of the danger.
