Jerome Isaac has implicated himself in the death of Deloris Gillespie, a woman who was doused in gasoline and burned in the elevator of her Brooklyn apartment building. Surveillance video reveals the suspect with a canister of flammable liquid. He doused the 73-year-old woman as she attempted to emerge from the elevator with her groceries. He then lit a Molotov cocktail and threw it into the elevator with the woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene when authorities responded.

Isaac went to the police station the following day and implicated himself in Gillespie’s death. The 47-year-old man smelled of gasoline, according to police, and said he had set Gillespie on fire because she owed him $2,000 for some work he had done for her. Isaac faces charges of first-degree and second-degree murder, as well as arson.
