Maine nurse reaches quarantine agreement with state officials

Kaci Hickox, whose case has become something of a lightning rod for the country’s policies on the Ebola threat, will be allowed to travel more or less freely reports CNN. Hickox gave an interview to CNN Monday in which she stated that her intentions were still to avoid public places as much as possible in order to respect the wishes of town residents. The health worker recently returned from helping Ebola sufferers in Sierra Leone. Upon her return, an elevated temperature caused her to be placed in extreme quarantine in New Jersey, even though she has tested negative for the disease and shows no symptoms. The conditions of her quarantine included being kept in an unheated tent overnight, and led Hickox to retain a lawyer and push to be returned to her home state. In her comments Monday she explained that she felt she had to push back against the “knee-jerk” quarantine policies in order to help any other returning health workers and protect her own civil rights.
