Leaks stopped bomb plot
With information gained from phone surveillance, the NSA was able to stop a plot to bomb the New York Stock Exchange, according to NSA officials in an open hearing on Tuesday. The hearing, hosted by the House Intelligence Committee, allowed officials involved with the program the chance to defend their choice to investigate phone and internet records of US citizens. Director of the National Security Agency, Army General Keith Alexander said the programs were essential to protecting citizens.
General Alexander explained Snowden’s choice to leak the information damaged the nation, as well as relations with other countries. He declared Snowden will have to face justice in the future.
