The murder trial of former Chicago-area police officer Drew Peterson is set to begin with opening statements on Tuesday. Peterson, 58, is accused of the 2004 death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, who was found dead in a bathtub, in a trial that has been delayed for two years. He also remains under investigation for the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacey Peterson, in October 2007.

According to Peterson’s lawyer, Joel Brodsky, a jury of seven men and five women in Joliet, Illinois will decide his fate during a trial that is expected to last about a month. “We’re ready to go… We’re anxious to get to trial, put the evidence before the jury and arrive at a verdict,” said Will County, Illinois, State’s Attorney James Glasgow.
