Body of missing Harvard student found in Portland Harbor

The body of a missing Harvard student, who was last seen outside a waterfront bar in Portland, Maine, days before his graduation, was recovered on Tuesday from the city’s harbor, according to police. Nathan Bihlmaier, 31, was a student at Harvard Business School and would have received his MBA on Thursday, and in June would have become a father for the first time.

He was last seen early on Sunday morning after drinking with friends at an Irish Pub near the harbor. Police say Bihlmaier was asked to leave the Ri Ra Pub around 12:20 a.m. on Sunday after becoming intoxicated and rowdy. He was soon separated from his friends and didn’t return to this hotel. The two friends he was celebrating graduation with reported him missing on Sunday. The discovery of Bihlmaier ends a three-day search, which was mostly conducted underwater by local, state, and federal authorities. Police told the Boston Herald that there was no evidence of foul play and the body would undergo an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Brian Kenny, a Harvard Business School spokesman, said Bihlmaier had recently accepted a job offer at a health care company and was “thrilled about the prospect of being a dad.” He is survived by his wife, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child.
