Biker involved in NYC assault and car chase turns himself in
On Monday, a group of motorcyclists in Manhattan were involved in a road-rage incident, where they chased an SUV, smashed the window of the car, and assaulted the driver. A video of the incident appeared online, and viewers could see that one of the bikers grabbed the driver of the SUV, who had his wife and child in the car. The driver was beaten, and was treated at the hospital for slashes on his face.
The whole incident began when the SUV driver hit one of the bikers. The driver pulled over, but the group of bikers surrounded his vehicle, and began hitting the car, and striking the tires. When the driver pulled away, the bikers chased him through Manhattan.
Police say the gang is called “Hollywood Stuntz,” and they eventually got a hold of the SUV driver when his tires went flat. Authorities are looking at the footage of the event to see if any other charges will be filed. Commissioner Kelly said: “you have to look at the totality of the circumstances and that’s what we’re doing…the investigation is ongoing.”
One of the bikers, Allen Edwards, 42, turned himself into authorities on Tuesday, and another, Edwin Mieses is paralyzed and in a coma. Mieses’ mother told CNN: “All of his ribs are fractured. His lungs are so badly bruised that he’s still on a ventilator.”
So far no one involved in the incident has been charged.
