Thieves attempt to steal ATMs from gas stations

Two men unsuccessfully attempted to steal ATMs from two Maryland gas stations Wednesday morning.

The thieves made their first attempt at an Exxon gas station on Allentown Road at 5 a.m. The two men were wearing dark clothes and masks.

“During this attempt, the suspects wrapped a chain around an ATM machine and tried to steal it,” says police officer Nicole Hubbard.

Twenty minutes later, officers responded to a call at a Citgo station on Old Branch Ave. and found the same two men trying to steal another ATM. A foot chase took place, but the suspects were able to escape.

The men did not get money from either ATM.
