Senate to hear minimum wage hike bill

The state Senate panel will be viewing a proposal to increase Maryland’s minimum wage today, as the Senate Finance Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing. This measure would raise the minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour by 2016. The bill would also guide the minimum wage in order to maintain inflation. The bill has been made a priority for this legislative session by Democratic Governor Martin O’Malley. Earlier in the week a House committee held a hearing on the same measure.
