Metro plans pedestrian tunnel for Medical Center station

Metro riders who frequent the Medical Center station will benefit from new escalators and a pedestrian tunnel under Rockville Pike in the next few years. The already busy station is expected to grow in ridership, adding to traffic concerns across Rockville Pike getting to and coming from Walter Reed Medical Center. This week Metro announced plans for the new construction that will begin in 2014 and take about two years to complete.
