MARYLAND – Officers involved in Freddie Gray case oppose trial delays

0

Two Baltimore police officers charged in the case of Freddie Gray are opposing Maryland’s motion to delay their trial hearings. The state is looking to delay their hearings until appellate courts decide whether other officers can be compelled to testify against those charged. Defense attorneys of the officers have said the state’s motion denies their defendants the right to a speedy trial. The officers themselves have called Maryland’s decision a “transparent subterfuge.”
