Maryland – Man killed after being struck by CSX train

A 25-year-old man was struck and killed early Monday morning by a CSX train in Prince George’s County. According to CSX spokeswoman Laura Phelps, the train’s crew notified the Prince George’s County Fire and Rescue about the incident. When Laurel Police were dispatched to the scene, they found the victim dead on the tracks in 100 block of Lafayette Avenue and Bowie Road. The man was found around 12:45 a.m. Monday, according to a news release. The man’s body was taken for an autopsy at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore. According to Phelps, the 80-car train that was heading from Baltimore to Pennsylvania was empty when it struck the man.
