Maryland – Defense to push to acquit Baltimore police officer

0

With the prosecution resting their case, the Baltimore police officer’s defense team is set to push hard for the acquittal of their client. The police officer, Caesar Goodson, is accused of giving Freddie Gray a “rough ride,” resulting in a fatal spinal injury. Goodson’s attorney’s are expected to ask Judge Barry Williams on Thursday to acquit their client. Their arguments will come a day after the judge ruled that the prosecution violated discovery rules when they did not turn over notes from a medical examiner that posit the death of Gray could be an accident. That evidence could contradict the earlier testimony of Dr. Carol Allen, who said Gray’s death was a homicide and not an accident.
