Father charged with murder of 3-year-old adopted son

Brian O’Callaghan, 36, of Damascus, is being held without bond in Montgomery County after being charged with first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death. According to Montgomery County police, Hyunsu O’Callaghan sustained multiple injuries and died February 3 at Children’s National Medical Center in D.C. The toddler’s injuries were discovered the day before by investigators. The injuries included trauma to the brain, an indication that the child had recently been beaten. O’Callaghan didn’t offer any explanation of the child’s injuries to doctors and an autopsy revealed the boy’s death was “homicide by multiple blunt impact injuries.” O’Callaghan stated that he drove his unresponsive son to Shady Grove Adventist Emergency Center in Germantown. Police say the child was then transported to Children’s National Medical Center. O’Callaghan was charged on February 16.
