Bacteria causes 3 beaches to close
The Anne Arundel County Health Department is warning beach-goers to stay out of the water due to tests showing high levels of bacteria.
Officials announced on Monday that they are closing Beverly Beach on the Chesapeake Bay, London Towne at Arundel Road Beach, and Upper Magothy Beach on the Magothy River in Severna Park. The closures come after high levels of bacteria were found in water samples for two consecutive weeks.
Health officials are unaware of what has caused the high bacteria levels, however waterfowl, rainfall, water temperature, and tidal action could be contributors. The beaches will remain closed until tests show acceptable bacteria levels.
