At least 35 people, 1 in Maryland, die after Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene has led to the deaths of at least 35 people according to the Associated Press after a weekend in which the massive storm battered much of the East Coast. According to AP, six died in New York, New Jersey and North Carolina, two died in Florida and Connecticut and one person died in both Massachusetts and Maryland.

The Maryland victim was an 85-year-old woman of Queen Anne’s County who died after a tree fell into her house.
