Saxophonist Bobby Keys died at his home at the age of 70 Tuesday after a long illness. Keys played on recordings with Buddy Holly, John Lennon and, most memorably, the Rolling Stones. Keys was also featured on albums by Keith Richards, George Harrison, Barbara Streisand and Eric Clapton. Keys was a Lubbock, Texas native, and his career began in the 1950s as a teenager. Richards was a great friend to Keys and said in a statement on his death that “I have lost the largest pal in the world, and I can’t express the sense of sadness I feel, although Bobby would tell me to cheer up.”
