Olympic ceremony album tops iTunes chart

The 2012 London Olympic ceremony was not only the most-watched program in the world on Friday, but the evening’s soundtrack has also topped the iTunes album chart in countries all over the globe. The album, which features songs from David Bowie, The Pet Shop Boys and Chemical Brothers, holds the No. 1 spot in Britain, France, Belgium and Spain, and it’s No. 5 in the United States.

Universal Music will also release an album of the London Olympics’ Aug. 12 closing ceremony, which will feature British acts like The Who and the Spice Girls.
