Officer who shared Boston bombing photos faces hearing
A state police officer who shared striking photographs of the surviving Boston Marathon bombings suspect faces a hearing to determine whether he will be suspended until an internal investigation is complete.
A spokesperson for the Massachusetts State Police said that no one authorized Sgt. Sean Murphy to release the photos to Boston Magazine. The photos also will not be released to other media.
Murphy has been released from duty for one day, which will be followed by a hearing to decide if he will be suspended.
Murphy expressed to Boston Magazine that he was furious at Rolling Stone for their latest cover photo, which he believes glamorizes suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. He said that his photos show “the real Boston bomber.”
