NBC’s Andrea Mitchell diagnosed with breast cancer

NBC’s Andrea Mitchell announced Wednesday that she has breast cancer. Mitchell is the NBC chief of foreign affairs correspondent and host of her own MSNBC show, “Andrea Mitchell Reports.” She made the announcement at the end of her show, citing that she was fortunate to have caught the cancer in its earliest stage during her annual screening.

One in eight women in the country will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Mitchell urged female viewers to get screened, saying that she is “already back at work with a terrific prognosis” thanks to the early discovery.
