Natalie Portman to direct 1st film
Israeli film officials have stated that Israeli-American actress Natalie Portman will direct her first feature film. The film will be based on an autobiographical novel written by Israeli author Amos Oz.
The Jerusalem Film Fund on Wednesday said that Portman wrote the screenplay and will also star in the film as Oz’s troubled mother.
Portman is to arrive in Israel to cast actors in October. Filming will begin in Jerusalem in 2014.
It has not been decided whether the film will be shot in Hebrew or English, but the film fund is providing $400,000 to make it.
The movie is based on Oz’s autobiographical novel, “A Tale of Love and Darkness,” about his youth during Israel’s founding.
