Fifty-one women from all over America competed Sunday night for the Miss USA titled. Nia Sanchez from Nevada was crowned at the end of the night. The twenty-four year old is a fourth-degree black belt in taekwondo and says women should be able to defend themselves as a way to battle the problem of campus rape. As an adult, she has volunteered at women’s shelters, teaching residents how to defend themselves and teaching kids about stranger danger.
