‘Laverne & Shirley’ stars to make appearance on Nickelodeon comedy

In a statement made on Wednesday, Nickelodeon said that Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams will be guest staring in an episode of its new comedy “Sam & Cat”.

Marshall and Williams stared as friends and roommates from the 1950s and 60s in the show “Laverne & Shirley”. They played Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney, who both worked at a brewery in Milwaukee. The sitcom was on air from 1976 to 1983 on ABC.

“Sam & Cat” has a similar dynamic, with Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande playing two friends who start a baby-sitting business.

Marshall and Williams will start the filming for the show on Wednesday and will play characters wrapped up in a decade-long feud. The “Sam & Cat” set-up will mirror the rivalry between Lavern and Shirley.
