The John Updike Society recently bought John Updike’s childhood home in Pennsylvania. Updike is famous for his “Rabbit” books, including “Rabbit, Run”, “Rabbit is Rich,” “Rabbit Redux”, and “Rabbit at Rest”. Two of the books, “Rabbit is Rich” and “Rabbit at Rest” were awarded the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

The society plans to restore the house to the time of Updike’s childhood and concert it into a museum. The society bought the home for $180,000 in Shillington, 50 miles from Philadelphia. Updike died in 2009, at the age of 76.
