Jay-Z visits inspiration at English cathedral
Rapper Jay-Z stopped by an English cathedral to see the inspiration behind his latest album – an 800-year-old parchment copy of the Magna Carta.
Jay-Z visited Salisbury Cathedral in southwest England to see one of the only four original copies of the Magna Carta, the proclamation considered to be the founding constitutional document of the English-speaking world in 1215.
Jay-Z’s latest album “Magna Carta Holy Grail” is partially inspired by the document, whose name means the Great Charter. On Thursday, the cathedral said that Jay-Z spent an hour at the church on Sunday. He met with the dean, Rev. June Osborne, and others.
Rev. Osborne said the rapper had been “a delightful guest”.
The cathedral, which is 750-years-old is currently displaying the artwork for the album alongside its copy of the original Magna Carta.
