Jay-Z calls bringing Nets to Brooklyn the American Dream

0

Brooklyn has not had a sports team of its own since the Dodgers left it in 1957. However; business-savvy rapper Jay-Z is playing an instrumental role in changing that. He is a partial owner of the Nets, a New Jersey based basketball team, and is working to bring the sports franchise to Brooklyn. For the singer and entrepreneur, bringing a sports team to the town where he grew up in a low income family is the embodiment of his life and experience of the American dream.

“Yeah I think I’m the American dream,” Jay-Z said. “That whole thing that you could come here and pull yourself up by the bootstraps, like that whole thing what America has always put up to the world that we represent. I feel that. Yes, I’ve lived that.”

The Nets will move into their new home in the Barclays Center, but not before Jay-Z kicks off the show with…well…a show. He will hold an eight show run beginning on Friday.
