James Bond film series turns 50

Friday is the 50th anniversary of the release of the first James Bond film, Dr No, which was released on Oct. 5, 1962 and starred Scott Connery as the smooth talking British spy. The event will be commemorated with the release of a documentary about the franchise and its tumultuous beginnings. The series has endured studio collapses, personality clashes and the end of the Cold War, but has, through all challenges, continued to be a cultural icon throughout the USA and the world.
