Eastwood mystery speaker at RNC

Clint Eastwood was the mystery speaker during the final night of the RNC, turning in an unscripted speech which included talking to an imaginary Barack Obama in an empty chair. “How do you handle the promises you’ve made? What do you say?” Eastwood asked the imaginary Obama. “I know even some of the people in your party were disappointed you didn’t close Gitmo.” He was the only speaker that didn’t speak from a teleprompter.

After the speech, many people criticized Eastwood empty chair routine, calling it rambling and awkward. “Clint Eastwood is now backstage arguing with a vending machine,” joked Canadian comedian Daryn Jones. “Clint, my hero, is coming across as sad and pathetic,” tweeted Roger Ebert. “He didn’t need to do this to himself. It’s unworthy of him.” Eastwood has endorsed Romney and endorsed McCain in 2008
