‘American Idol’ to close deals with Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, reports say

Country singer Keith Urban and Hip-Hop artist Nicki Minaj may be nearing deals to take the vacant judges’ seats on “American Idol,” according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR). The report said Minaj and Urban have been in talks with the show for weeks, but Minaj’s involvement was apprehensive because she has a lucrative endorsement deal with Pepsi, and Coke is a sponsor of “American Idol.” The issues have reportedly been resolved, and Minaj would earn an estimated $8 million for her participation on the show, and an extra allowance for wardrobe, hair, and makeup.

Urban, who is married to Hollywood’s Nicole Kidman, has reportedly agreed to become a judge for a salary of $3 to $4 million. Mariah Carey, the only official judge, will reportedly receive nearly $18 million.
