Actress brings fraud charges against anti-Islam film producer

Cindy Lee Garcia and two other actresses are bringing charges of invasion of privacy, fraud, slander and intentional infliction of emotional distress against Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, director of the anti-Islamic film that ignited a wave of anger and violence in Muslim communities across the world. Garcia is sueing Nakoula in a Los Angeles court, saying Nakoula misled her into believing the film was about ancient Egypt. Nakoula is a convicted con artist out on parole who actually wrote the script under a pseudonym. In addition, Garcia is suing Youtube for releasing portions of the film. Since the release of the film and Garcia’s realization of what the actual theme was, she and everyone close to her fear for their safety. The suit is being brought to Youtube and Google on these and the grounds that Garcia’s career has been ruined. According to Garcia and the other actresses involved in the lawsuit, after the production of the film which she at the time believed was a low budget fictional drama set in Ancient Egypt, actors were called in and asked to record themselves saying certain words in isolated context such as the name “Mohammed.” These recordings, unbeknownst to the actors who made them, were apparently used to dub the film and warp it into an anti-Islam film degrading the Islamic prophet Mohammed. The head of the non profit Christian broadcasting company responsible for producing the film has also claimed that he was decieved about its true purpose and was led to believe it was about Christian persecution.
