Actor Andy Griffith dead at 86
Actor Andy Griffith died Tuesday at age 86. Griffith, who is most famous for his role as Sheriff Andy Taylor on the 1960s sitcom “The Andy Griffith Show” died at his home on Roanoke Island. Griffith continued his popular acting career in the 1980s and 1990s as a defense lawyer in “Matlock.” His wife of three decades, Cindi Griffith, was at his bedside and issued a statement saying: “I cannot imagine life without Andy, but I take comfort and strength in God’s Grace and in the knowledge that Andy is at peace and with God.” Griffith’s body was lowered into a grave on the island at about 11:30 a.m., just five hours after the actor passed away.
