Andy Rooney, best known for his work as a commentator on “60 Minutes”, died Nov. 4 in New York. He was 92 years old. Rooney had gone to the hospital for an undisclosed surgery, but complications developed and he was unable to recover. Just one month prior, Rooney had given his 1,097th and final “60 Minutes” appearance.

Rooney was well known for his frank and down-to-earth commentary on current events. The late CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite once described Mr. Rooney as an “Everyman, articulating all the frustrations with modern life that the rest of us Everymen (and Everywomen) suffer with silence or mumbled oaths.” He won three Emmy Awards during the course of his career. Rooney and his wife, Marguerite, were married for 62 years before she died in 2004.
