Twitter, new policy to censor tweets

0

On Thursday, the online social networking site, Twitter, said it will start removing users’ tweets in countries that entail it, albeit the removed tweets will be visible to other users around the globe. This is important because before the social network introduced this policy, Twitter had to remove the content globally to comply with countries that have restrictions. France and Germany, for example, have restrictions on tweets that contain pro-Nazi content.

Twitter will now delete tweets on a case-by-case basis, “reactively,” and will inform the user as to why his or her tweet was censored. Twitter spokeswoman Jodi Olson commented to CNN saying, “We hold freedom of expression in high esteem and work hard not to remove Tweets.”
