AOL employee fired for taking a photo

An employee of AOL was fired on Friday for taking a photograph during a conference call. AOL CEO Tim Armstrong fired Abel Lenz, creative director for Patch, a group of news websites for local communities, after spotting Lenz pulling out his camera while the CEO was discussing Patch over the phone. According to audio gained by the media blog, JimRomenesko.com, Armstrong said, “Abel, put that camera down right now. Abel! You’re fired. Out!”

The call quickly resumed after Lenz was fired. The CEO later commented, “I also want to clear up the fact that leaking information or anything around Patch isn’t going to bother me.” Lenz simply tweeted, “No comment.”
