A short glitch in Delta’s system results in abnormally low fares

A glitch in Delta airline’s ticketing system resulted in extremely low fares being posted online Thursday morning. Some were reported as costing only $27. Other customers found flights from Boston to Honolulu for $68 and cross-country trips for around $40.

Spokesman for Delta, Trebor Banstetter, stated that the airline will honor the fares that were incorrectly listed, but the problem was resolved fairly quickly. “For a portion of the morning today, some prices on delta.com and other booking channels were incorrectly displayed, resulting in lower than usual fares for customers,” Banstetter said. He then added that the “situation has been resolved and the correct prices are now being displayed.”

Some customers were reporting more problems with the site on Thursday afternoon though, saying that the Delta site was slow or would not load.
