The BPW (Business and Professional Women) of Maryland held its annual conference this weekend at the Holiday Inn in Gaithersburg.  The theme of the conference was “Celebrate the Change:  The New Face of BPW”.  Some of the speakers includedBette McLeod, Carolyn Cook, Toni Koenigsberg and Rita Hummel Crowe, whose speeches consisted of topics such as accepting change, the Equal Rights Amendment, launching a business website and creating a bucket list to fulfill your dreams, respectively.  As McLeod dazzled the audience with stories about her well-lived life of service, Cook extolled the urgency of passing the ERA amendment to give women their long deserved equal rights.

The other dynamic speakers inspired the women with cutting edge speeches on the topic of women and change in 2011. The conference spanned from Friday to Sunday and included sales booths where women entrepreneurs exhibited and sold products.  A silent auction to benefit the BPW scholarship fund and assist students in Montgomery County was also a feature of the conference.
