In Case You Missed It

The Light Up the Sky For Women’s Equality  Rally on August 26.

Susan Horst and Diane Polangin shared their support by wearing gold banners that read “Votes for Women”. Singer and songwriter Sharlene Leahy (not pictured) sang “The Women’s Suffrage Song”.

The rally and candlelight circle was designed to honor the courage and contributions of  American foremothers on this 90th anniversary of women’s suffrage.  It also celebrated the infinite strength of the women’s movement in 2010 in the battle for equal rights.

Women and men carried signs bearing their organization’s mission in a show of solidarity in the common bond for women’s equality.

Speakers included: United For Equality Founder, Carolyn Cook (pictured above), Ann Stone, Senior Vice President of the National Women’s History Museum, Erin Dexter, Lead Docent the Sewall Belmont House and Museum, Executive Director of the Coalition of Labor Union Women, Carol Rosenblatt, Diane Polangin of  Business & Professional Women, MCNOW President, Susan Martin, REAL President, Jeffrey Imm, and Political Campaign Strategist and Blogger, Mike Hersh.
