Erik Bruner-Yang’s new restaurant concept to open in April

0

D.C. chef and rising culinary star Erik Bruner-Yang’s long-planned restaurant concept Maketto will open its doors on April 10 (with an exclusive pre-opening party April 4). Maketto will be located at 1351 H St. NE, not far from Bruner-Yang’s other restaurant Toki Underground (an Asian-fusion eatery). Maketto is a collaboration between Bruner-Yang and Will Sharp of the D.C.-based Durki street clothing line. It will combine retail and restaurant spaces, street food, coffee and donuts, food products and apparel. The official Facebook page describes it as “a communal marketplace and lifestyle brand.” Bruner-Yang and Sharp operated a pop-up version of the Maketto concept for several months back in 2013. Bruner-Yang is one of two D.C. chefs nominated for a James Beard Foundation Award this year.
