Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that he will only agree to meet with Vladimir Putin after negotiating a common plan with Donald Trump. He also expressed his belief that Trump’s presidency will be the key to ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Zelenskyy revealed that the U.S. president gave him his telephone number before Friday, ahead of the opening of the Munich Security Conference. JD Vance and Zelenskyy are set to meet later this week to discuss negotiations for a potential settlement or deal to end the war. This marks a significant shift in the steadfast support that the U.S. had previously demonstrated toward Ukraine.

Many European leaders in attendance hope that JD Vance will shed light on Trump’s plans for a negotiated settlement to end the ongoing war. At the conference, Vance also spoke about free speech and illegal immigration in both the U.S. and Europe. He warned European leaders that they risk losing public support if they do not adopt a more conservative course of action.
