The White House has begun hearing promoted ideas on how to persuade Americans to get married and have more children. This is a clear push by the Trump administration to embrace a new set of cultural norms in an attempt to reverse declining birth rates, and typically align with conservative family values. One proposal shared with White House aides recommended reserving 30% of scholarships for the Fulbright program for applicants who are married with children. Another proposal would give $5,000 as a bonus to every American mother following a delivery.
Another proposal calls on the government to fund a program to educate women on their menstrual cycles, so they can better understand the best time to conceive a child. These ideas are emerging as part of a push for more conservative family values and the movement has been gaining traction and support in the U.S. It now has the potential to be enacted by the government.
