A 37-year-old prison guard was sentenced to one year and six months in prison on Thursday for accepting bribes. Jermaine Brown, who worked at the federal prison in Petersburg, allegedly took in about $3,000 for smuggling cigarettes to inmates. According to court documents, Brown provided contraband cigarettes then instructed inmates to have their friends or family members wire money to an associate who passed the money along to him.
