Two police officers from Fairfax County were shot while conducting a traffic stop on Wednesday afternoon in Northern Virginia. The police officer’s injuries have been determined as non life-threatening, and the two officers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The suspect who shot at the officers was killed as the police returned fire. The 36-year-old suspect has not yet been publicly identified, according to the press conference held by Fairfax County police. The shooting took place when a driver was pulled over for speeding, and the driver pulled out his gun and began firing at the officers a bit before 3:00 PM. An emergency response unfolded in the 4000 block of Majestic Lane at Lee Jackson Highway (Route 50). This is a dense shopping and residential area that is close to the Greenbriar Town Center, which also has a high number of commuters in the evening.
Video from the parking lot of the Greenbriar Town Center parking lot showed a massive police response, and officers were seen kneeling near a police cruiser with guns drawn and pointed. One of the bystanders could be seen hiding around the corner of a building, and others stood watching or filming the incident.
