Teen girl involved in prostitution ring helps police break it up

A 14-year-old girl who was involved in an underage D.C. prostitution ring helped police arrest the leaders. Daraya A. Marshall, 35, was arrested in June for sex trafficking of children. Likewise, Jarnese E. Harris, 28, was arrested on Thursday on sex trafficking of children charges. The mother of the girl contacted police when she was concerned about her child’s safety. She gave officials the address of Marshall, where they found the 14-year-old. The girl gave police details of the prostitution ring in late May that led to the arrests. She told the officers that at least six or seven girls were participating in prostitution at Marshall’s apartment and at hotels. It is unclear how the 14-year-old began working in the prostitution ring or if she is now in her mother’s care.
