Senator Bernie Sanders has emerged as a leading voice in the Democratic Party’s opposition to Trump’s second administration. Speaking to large crowds, Sanders criticized the growing influence of billionaires and corporations in government, stating that while this issue is not new, it has become more pronounced under Trump’s leadership.
In an interview, Sanders said, “Well, when I talked about oligarchy over the years, I think for some people it was an abstraction.” However, he added, “You’d have to be blind not to see that what we have today is a government of the billionaires, by the billionaires, and for the billionaires.”
At the same time, Sanders criticized the Democratic Party for neglecting working-class Americans. He urged the party to focus on policies addressing income inequality, healthcare, and climate change. “If they do that, I think working people will come back into the fold,” he predicted. “If not, I suspect the party will continue to decline.”
