National test scores drop in math and reading

Results released from the 2015 National Assessment of Educational Progress exam shows slipping scores for fourth- and eighth- graders in math and slipping scores for eighth- graders in reading. Only one-third of the nation’s eighth- graders were marked as proficient or above in math and reading. “We should expect scores in this period to bounce around some, and I think that ‘implementation dip’ is part of what we’re seeing here,” Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said.
