The USDA released inspection records revealing widespread unsanitary conditions at Boar’s Head deli meat plants, prompting a shutdown and linking the facility to a deadly listeria outbreak. Inspectors documented instances of meat and fat residue on equipment and walls, condensation dripping into food, and the presence of mold, insects, and unidentified slime.

The report highlighted “dark, stinky residue” and “puddles of blood, debris, and trash” in the factory, as well as similar issues at three additional facilities. Boar’s Head has faced significant backlash over these findings, which have raised concerns about the company’s adherence to food safety regulations.
