NATIONAL NEWS – President of Columbia University resigns after Trump threatens to revoke federal funding

The interim president of Columbia University, Dr. Katrina Armstrong, has stepped down. Columbia announced on Friday, a week after he announced sweeping policy changes that leaned heavily in favor of the Trump administration’s executive orders. This comes shortly after the administration threatened to revoke federal funding from universities that did not comply with their orders.
Dr. Armstrong became interim president of Columbia University last year after Columbia became a nationwide spectacle over political tensions on campus. She was named interim president after former president Minouche Shafik faced scrutiny for the handling of encampments protestors of the war between Israel and Hamas.
Trump’s revocation of $400 million in federal funds over campus protests also ncluded new restrictions on demonstrations and sanctions on student groups that were accused of violating campus regulations.
