The CFO of Tesla Vaibhav Taneja has sold $1.7 million in shares of common stock for Tesla. Earlier in the week Board Chair Robyn Denholm sold around $33 million in shares according to security filings from Monday. The sales represent the second offloading of stock by two executives in as many months. With Taneja, Denholm, and Tesla board member Kimbal Musk, Elon Musk’s brother, having collectively sold tens of millions in shares of stock in the company by early February. At the time Taneja sold $2.8 million in stock while Denholm sold shares of approximately $43 million.
In January Denholm, Musk, and other board members agreed to pay back a collective $919 million to Tesla in a court settlement stemming from a shareholder lawsuit that asserted that the directors had overpaid themselves. Taneja and Denholm’s stock sales said that the sales this week also took place as the EV maker has continued to see its stock price plummet, amid both slumping global sales and uncertainty surrounding potential tariffs and their impact on the EV space, both in the U.S. and in other countries.
