Minimum wage increase in D.C. and Maryland

On Wednesday, the minimum wage increase went into effect on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. The District’s minimum wage is now $10.50, which is higher than any state, although some cities in the U.S. have higher minimum wages. Maryland’s minimum wage increased from $8 to $8.25. The wage for D.C. will increase to $11.50 next July. Maryland’s wages will increase to $8.75 in 2016, $9.25 in 2017, and reaching $10.10 in 2018.
